MONDAY MYSPACE MEMORIES VOL. 1

by - July 23, 2018

When I decided to launch the Positive Cynicism blog, one of the first ideas I had was to post old Myspace blogs as an exercise in self-reflection.

I had read through them a few years ago and was amused by what I read. Reading through them again in the past few weeks, I was a little shocked and embarrassed by what I read.

Given the recent firing of James Gunn by Disney over tweets Gunn had made ten years ago (a situation that will be explored in detail on episode 53 of the Positive Cynicism podcasts), I am taking a risk of exposing my own politically incorrect ramblings. Guess I won't get to live out my newfound dreams of portraying The Fin or Living Eraser on film.

I'm okay with opening myself up to judgement. I won't claim to be perfect. I know that I am not the same person I was in 2005. If I was the same person, I would have done something wrong in life. Lets stop dragging this out and start off this series. Lets see how I started my blogging ways back when Myspace was the hottest thing on the internet.

Body Why am I doing this? Do I really have anything to say? Nope.  Just thought I'd join the information superhighway and become hip by having my own little space on the web. Actually, I was curious to see if people really paid any attention to these things. Or if I'm just writing to pass the time and maybe have one or two friends read it and tell me I need to get a life.
Hmm...maybe getting a life wouldn't be a bad idea, but that would require effort. I'm much more interested in seeing if this takes off and if all my wildest dreams can come true. Perhaps I can be a lucky as that woman from D.C. who's blog became popular and now she has a book deal. All I have to do is post all the details of my sexual escapades. Are you ready? Let's get started. ..  hmmm....  um... *note to self: have wild sexual escapades to talk about in blog.*  Well this if off to a tremendous start.
Well anyway, if you've made it this far and are still reading, I give you a money back guarantee that things will get better. And if they don't? Well there are like 30 billion other blogs you can read. But hang in there. I have some interesting things planned.

That was written just over 13 years ago. Since then, not only do we have blog stars, we also have YoutTube stars. Obviously I should have tried harder to build my brand. Obviously the cynicism is present and (Spoiler) will become a big fixture of future writings. The sad dating life sadly is not a phase that ended when Myspace was deemed uncool. There will be a lot more of self-deprecation dating stories in the future as well.

Overall, my first entry into the blogosphere is about what I would have expected. Nothing too serious and nothing earth shattering. Where do we go from here? Come back next week and find out.

As always, Question Everything and Do Something Positive.
